Novel Recomendation: Hunger Games "I couldn't stop reading..." -Stephen King
The 'Hunger Games' is a teen novel by Suzanne Collins. The novel is in the point of view of Katniss Everdeen and is placed in the future. The story is very Gladiator and is all action with some romance and is not the typical 'hollywood' kind.
Twenty-four are forced to enter. Only the winner survives. In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Each year, the districts are forced by the Capitol to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the Hunger Games, a brutal and terrifying fight to the death - televised for all of Panem to see.
Survival is second nature for sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who struggles to feed her mother and younger sister by secretly hunting and gathering beyond the fences of District 12. When Katniss steps in to take the place of her sister in the Hunger Games, she knows it may be her death sentence. If she is to survive, she must weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
WINNING WILL MAKE YOU FAMOUS. LOSING MEANS CERTAIN DEATH. (http://www.thehungergames.co.uk/about_the_book, 2010)
There will be a release of the last book of the 'Hunger Games' trilogie on the 23 of August, "Catching Fire' will have a release party in Chpters books store, one of which is in Brampton Ontario Canada though I'm not sure which the others are, look it up if you are interested.

Kelley Armstrong
On September 25th 2010 there will be a book signing by Kelley Armstrong a famous Canadian author. Kelley Armstrong has written one of my all time favourite trilogies The Darkest Powers, book one is The Summoning. The Summoning is narrated by Chloe Saunders, she is sent to a 'group home' for unstable teens, Lyle House, Lyle House is not exactly what is seems and neither are it's residence. I won't say much more but if you like a teen thriller, action and suspense you'll like this, the prologue and a few chapters should be up on Kelley Armstrong's website.

Fan Expo
Okay, I am having a mental freak out right now, I just found out about the Fan Expo in Toronto Ontario. Yes, I just found out (really I found out a few days ago but I just started this and it sound better to say I found out now.) For those of you who don't know what the Fan Expo is it is a convention with guests who are really famous, Batman, Star Treck, Star Wars and a whole lot more not to mention authors as well. The person I am going to see, nee, I have to see is James Marsters. James Marsters is a well known actor among nerds’ because of his amazing work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. James Martser plays Spike, a not to bad as vampire who thinks he's a tough guy. If you think you can get a laugh out of old special effects and some good acting you'll probably love the character Spike. Back to my point, I am going (cross fingers) with my close friend Shelby and I am beyond excited to see James Marsters. Oh and also for those of you who know Dr Horrible Sing Along Blog, Felicia Day (Penny) will be there, she is also the main character on the Guild. Okay, that's all for this post.

Chirp it Nerd
Okay, so what started this all? Let’s go back to the beginning.
I have always been a nerd and I have always talked nerd to everyone around me. No this does not mean I use big words and do math equations on my head (I hate math except trig) it means I be myself 24/7. 'be my self 24/7' you're probably thinking 'what the hell? This chick is crazy, who is she if she isn't herself and why is that a hard thing?' But I'll tell you why being myself is hard sometimes. I tend to drive people of the male species away with my intense views on the little I know of life. I mess up all the time, I mean I'm a disaster in human form. The only thing that saves me from doing stupid things, falling, spilling drinks and basically being a whirl wind of chaos is that I have learnt in my short 16 years that these bad things are bound to happen and I brace myself for them. So my point is, just so you don't get too lost is that I am a nerd, not only in the fact that I read but the fact that I live and breath nerd and always have. Being a nerd from birth I have decided that I shall no longer hide my nerdy ways and should just let them be. I talk day in and day out with my friends about books, writing, shows’ (nerdy shows) and just about anything you can think of that involves novels. For this reason I decided that I should talk with the lot of you about those things too. Now why would I have a one sided conversation about being a nerd? Because I'm just that awesome and I figure if you don't respond I can pretend you actually care and actually read this (I'm not holding my breath on that by the way.) All in all here it goes, chirping nerd with my fellow nerds.
GO Nerdfighters!
... I probably forgot to mention something but we'll pretend I haven't.
Be happy,
Megan
